By this point I’m playing strictly vinyl, and it isn’t long before I sell my old first-gen CDJ-500’s which replaced my original non-DJ CD players. I begin to develop a love for techno, playing out at events much more frequently, and building a sizable record collection. 1996/7 were great years for techno – lots of heavy industrial stuff, acid techno and general machine noise business you could rinse out for hours on end.

Every year we went to the Narcottage for the Victoria Day long weekend. Eventually it became elaborate: generator, full sound system, plenty of DJ’s and a full on party atmosphere. In the middle of this long run of epic events, I managed to play a record-breaking 19.5h set, and capture much of it on tape.
